Photoshoots I’ve loved #16

This week it’s Janne Parviainen’s images of rooms light-painted (is that even a word? Let me know in the comments…) with one LED light. These are amazing, they are all done in-camera, with no post-processing at all. Doing what he calls “Light typography”, he traces over the room’s surfaces with an LED while the camera’s shutter is open (which is what light painting is, essentially ;)). This images wouldn’t look out of place in the Tron universe.

What do you think of them? Are they too much work for the result they give?

Friday post series #10

Something a little different this week… instead of posting an “I want to do that” kind of post, I’m sharing my “21 Before 22” list. It’s kind of like those “30 Before 30” lists I’ve seen on a lot of other blogs. If this one doesn’t work out (I’m 22 on the 10th of April, 2013), I’m going to transfer these goals and make a 30 Before 30 list instead (seems more do-able;)).

So here goes:

1. Create an inspiration board / mood board. (Already kind of started, I’m collecting inspiring things from magazines and things & keeping them in a file).

2. Create an inspiring studio space. (Ideally this would be a film production studio too, but one can dream ;))

3. Discover new artists / bands

4. Project 365. (Don’t think this is going to get done, I’m bad with that kind of thing)

5. Shoot videos / photos for money. (I gotta eat ;))

6. Make business cards (This has been on my “Future” to-do list for so long…)

7. Start video blogging. (Not so sure about this one, I hate the sound of my own voice….)

8. Design my dream wardrobe

9. Have a mother / daughter day. (Will probably happen at the weekend, so that’s pretty easy)

10. Have a solo exhibition / group exhibition (will happen in February, all going to plan, so eeek)

11. Hang my own photos (Will also probably happen in February)

12. Start graphic design properly

13. Learn CS5 Design Standard. (Getting there…)

14. Cover my bedroom walls in photos

15. Shoot all my camera film (So many rolls….)

16. Make business goals

17. Buy a new camera

18. Start practicing guitar again

19. Make enough money to live comfortably

20. Update CV regularly / keep current

21. Start putting myself forward for projects (need to get over my shyness…)

So, do you have any lists like this? What are some of your goals? Do you keep a long-term list or a weekly list? Let me know in the comments

First fashion photoshoot

Two weeks ago in college, we got to link up with the Fashion Design students and photograph them in the studio. Here are some photos from the day. They’re not my best as I’m only getting properly into studio portraiture now but I’ll post up more photographs as they come! Hope you enjoy.

Let me know in the comments what you think.

Photoshoots I’ve loved #15

This week on the fifteenth post in my series on “photo-shoots I’ve loved”, its David Jordan’s long exposure, out of focus images of fireworks. I’m always fascinated by long-exposure photographs so I think these are amazing, they look like abstract paintings. (They wouldn’t look out-of-place on a gallery wall either – it’s the wannabe curator in me coming out!). The composition is perfect, the viewer is immediately drawn towards the middle of the photograph, to the centre of the firework.

What do you think of them? Do you think they are too “arty”?

Considering I’m a photographer, I’ll let these images speak for themselves. They’re from a campaign by Delaosita for their F/W’12 collection.

What do you think of these images? Should they have both black and white and colour images in the series?

Photoshoots I’ve loved #13

Hello again, I’m back to continue my series on inspiring and incredible images. This one is “Beauty School Drop-out” by Michael David Adams. The images are gaudy, with candy-couloured hair and strong makeup. This is reminiscent of Charlotte Free or even Helena Bonham-Carter in some images. The tight crop of most of the images adds to the overall composition, making you really look at the model’s hair and makeup.

Also…

Watch this space, I might have an extra something-something for you during the week (or even later tonight;)).

What do you think? Is the makeup with the hair too much?

Photoshoot’s I’ve loved #12

Apologies for the lack of regular posts…. I’ve been sick and my iMac hasn’t been working properly. I called AppleCare today though, and wiped the hard drive so hopefully that will fix it and I’ll be back to regularly posting. So, now we’re on to the twelfth post in the “photoshoots I’ve loved” series. This week it’s Andoni and Arantxa’s images of Natalia Siodmiak for Elle Ukraine, April 2012. These are gorgeous photos. The editing almost makes them look like film photos and the simple design and sets just add to the overall look and feel of the photos. (Not much else to say, really!)

Photo shoots I’ve loved #11

This week it’s Oleg Oprisco’s incredible images. I found his portfolio on Photography Served and was immediately drawn to the images. They are ethereal, dreamy, soft focused with lots of bokeh… just what I like, really! Not much else to say about them!

What do you think of them? Do you like them as much as I do?
